eTWINNING PROJECT AND MAKING FRIENDS ALL AROUND THE GLOBE   When my IB supervisor asked me if I would want to be a part of our school's eTwinning project I was more than happy to say yes. To briefly explain, eTwinning is a project which creates a platform for schools around Europe to collaborate and create projects in a different learning environment. Our school is collaborating with a school in Bosnia and we have had two meetings so far.  The first meeting was quite exciting since it was our first meeting. I volunteered to moderate the meeting and that was a very new experience for me since I usually prefer staying silent if I'm in a new environment. However, when our teacher asked for someone to moderate the meeting, I thought, "I can do that very well." so I raised my hand and volunteered. I called everyone's names one by one and made small talk during the introduction which made me feel really proud of myself. We learned about each other's hob...

INTRODUCING: ME!

WELCOME TO MY BLOG FOLKS! To start with, I think you would want to know my name. My name is İrem but, my friends on the internet prefer calling me Remy. But be careful don't mistake it with Remy the Rat from Ratatouille, cause I can't cook unlike him. To further introduce myself, here is some information about me. I'm 16, soon to be 17. I enjoy movies, books, drawing, singing, and listening to music like any other teenager. The reason why I opened this blog is actually about my school. When they wanted me to open a blog to keep up with the activities I do this year, I was more than excited. I like to think I have an interesting life, and sharing it with my friends would be so much fun. Therefore here I go writing my first blog post :)
WOW ok so here I go ıg my first blog post lol. Well I would never do this if it wasn't for my IB portfolio. Although I have awesome thoughts all the time I think I would just tweet about them.

Gender Norms and Environmental Change

Gender Roles and Climate Change Recently I attended a conference about gender roles and their effects on climate. The guest speaker was Dr. Nuran Talu and she answered one of my questions and talked about the relationship between gender and the environment.  Although the conference was about the climate we somehow ended up on the topic of classism and how low-income areas are left on their own in the climate war. I asked a question about how income levels affect the rural areas' relations with climate change. Then the discussion became a discussion about education and GAP. GAP (Güneydoğu Anadolu project) is a project created by the Turkish government to help with agricultural activities in the more rural areas of turkey. We talked about the unfair distribution of funds and how it's the governers duty to accommodate the needs of people who are in the agricultural business.  The conference really made me feel less alone as a feminist who also is interested in the effects ...
