eTWINNING PROJECT AND MAKING FRIENDS ALL AROUND THE GLOBE

 When my IB supervisor asked me if I would want to be a part of our school's eTwinning project I was more than happy to say yes. To briefly explain, eTwinning is a project which creates a platform for schools around Europe to collaborate and create projects in a different learning environment. Our school is collaborating with a school in Bosnia and we have had two meetings so far. 

The first meeting was quite exciting since it was our first meeting. I volunteered to moderate the meeting and that was a very new experience for me since I usually prefer staying silent if I'm in a new environment. However, when our teacher asked for someone to moderate the meeting, I thought, "I can do that very well." so I raised my hand and volunteered. I called everyone's names one by one and made small talk during the introduction which made me feel really proud of myself. We learned about each other's hobbies and some basic information about their lives. It made me really look forward to our next meeting.

The second meeting we had was one of our actual meetings therefore one group from Bosnia and one group from our school had presentations. The first presentation was about social media which really grabbed my attention because I also did a similar presentation at the beginning of the school year for my ITGS lesson. We did a small discussion and I had the chance to talk about something I learned during one of our TOK lessons, echo chambers. I really enjoyed learning about my peers' opinions on a global and popular thing like social media. I also learned about the school council system in Bosnia thanks to one of the students in team Bosnia. The meeting really gave me insight into people at my age. I was honestly kind of surprised when I learned they liked Snapchat. The more you know right?

Tutoring My Friend

  Tutoring My Friend When I came home to see my family this weekend one of my friends called me to help her with her mathematics exam. Since I knew the topics she was struggling with I of course accepted the offer without a second thought. We studied for two and a half hours and I taught her some tricks regarding certain question types which helped me revise them myself. After the study session, she had her mathematics exam and had a great mark which made me feel proud of myself and my friend.  This experience made me realize how I can help people easily just by sparing just a few hours. I felt very proud of my teaching skills and my communication skills since I was able to communicate the knowledge I had and helped someone with those skills .

INTRODUCING GURUB!!

 INTODUCING: GURUB!! HI EVERYONE!! I’m finally back with more things to talk about. I now have a band!!! We are an acoustic band consisting of me (lead vocal) and two of my best friends from prep year of highschool, Kerim (guitar + vocals) and Ahsen (guitar + vocals). We had our first rehearsal today sadly only with me and Kerim. It took us about 3 hours but finally we decided the tone of three songs and figured out the back vocals. This small rehearsal made me realize how much hard work actually goes into music. Working as a team was not my strongest suit previously but while working for something I love like music it was a lot easier. I had a lot of fun while trying to get the songs right. Some  other people came in to listen to us playing and singing, though it was not an actual concert or a show it still made me quite proud. Being in a band was one of my childhood dreams and I’m really happy to be able to do all of this with my friends. Here you can see some pictures of us...

  Learning Firstaid As someone who has health problems and experienced fainting in public places. I would get made very uncomfortable by people with no firstaid training. Because of this I wanted to make sure other people like me doesn't experience such uncomfortable situations and learn firstaid. I decided to sign up for the firstaid course near me for their 18 hour program. Though I knew most of the things because of my own situation I also learned a lot about different situations I might need to step in. Being able to help people and give this service when needed makes me really proud and seeing that other young people like me also wanted to help made me think about our shared lives as humanity and how much we actually mean to each other which was emotional. When the course ended we had a test and a practical exam which I passed. Now I can help people in hard situations I also got into in the past 😊
