Drawing With Graphite Pencils I’ve always enjoyed using art as a form of self-expression since I was as young as two years old. Though I had a long art journey one of the mediums I always avoided was graphite pencils. This year I wanted to challenge my skills by using a medium I’ve never used before. I signed up for a local graphite pen course and started learning about the new medium. Because of my already existing experience in still drawings it wasn’t hard for me to learn a new medium. This gave me a new way of self expression and created a new outlet for my creativity. I’m glad I challenged myself this way.

Exhibition PR As our exhibition approached I and fellow 10th graders decided to visit schools and invite them over for our exhibition. We prepared posters and divided everyone into teams of 2 or more to visit schools all around Istanbul. Me and two of my friends visited two schools and spent hours using public transportation and walking places. In the first school, we had a chat with their vice principal and their IB coordinator as well as other IB students and teachers. In the second school, we visited we met up with 2 other IB students and chatted about our schools, projects, and the IB program. Afterward, we informed their IB coordinator about our project and went on to take a look at the school’s museum. We examined the museum with great curiosity since the school caused many big names in Turkish media in the past. Bosnia music Etwinning We finally had our next Etwinning meeting with our friends from Bosnia. This time the topic was their local music preferences and popular music listened to by teenagers in Bosnia. The meeting was one of the best meetings we had since we all enjoyed music as teenagers. When they showed us music their culture influenced I made an observation that my culture's music and their music had similarities. After this realization, I recommended some Turkish jazz artists to my friend who prepared the presentation. Learning about other cultures’ music made me think about how there are things in the world that unite everyone like music, paintings, and sports. This thought made me feel less alone and more in touch with the world around me and intrigued me to search for other cultures' music and my cultural music as well.   After they finished the presentation I started a conversation about our own music tastes and discussed some of our favorite bands' features toget...

  Bosnia Meeting: Crypto Currency This week it was Turkish students’ turn to present and some of my friends prepared a presentation on cryptocurrency and the crypto market in general. Crypto had been one of the things I avoided to look into because of the environmental damage it caused. Hence ıt was my first time actually learning about the market and terms. They explained how the investments are made and how they can gain profit out of those investments and they mentioned things like “whales” and how they can affect the market. This new found information made me gain a different perspective on how peoples priorities in life were quite different. Some people in my age were already trying to get more money by making investments and almost gambling without considering the consequences of these actions on their future.
